CUSTOM LOAD DEVELOPMENT

What I do for custom load development

  • Clean bore

  • Inspect rifle and check/adjust scope ring torque

  • Check trigger pull weight

  • Create a custom load combination to work in your rifle and for your goals (bullet, bullet weight, powder, powder charge, shoulder bump, jump to lands, etc...).

  • I use only temperature stable powders (ones that are less sensitive to temperature changes) and will probably try several bullet manufacturers (e.g., Barnes, Nosler ETip, McGuire, and Hammer) to find the best one for your rifle

  • Achieve 3 shot group size of less than 1 MOA (will provide shot targets)

  • All shots over chronograph

  • Will provide average velocity (and SD/ES) and other ballistic information

  • Will calculate ballistic tables

  • Will create a Google Photo Album and provide updates and information (such as videos of your bore, pictures of the handloading process and range/target results)

  • Sight in rifle to 200 yard zero, unless something else is requested

  • You can supply your own fired brass as long as:

    • there is a known number of firings,

    • there are at least 40 of the same headstamp (manufacturer), and

    • it is good quality brass.

Cost

  • $600 for load development plus a minimum of 2 boxes (20 cartridges/box) of loaded ammo.

  • A box of custom loaded ammo is usually between $65-85 (depending on cartridge and bullet).
